The Lecce section, founded in 2007 thanks to the initiative of Maria Elvira Consoli, immediately showed a strong interdisciplinary vocation, both for the presence, among the members, of expert scholars from different fields of ancient experience, and for the involvement in the many initiatives carried out over the years, of specialists from the most varied sectors of classical sciences. In recent years, also thanks to the presidency of Francesca Lamberti, the Lecce section has been characterized by numerous initiatives of a historical-legal nature, without however neglecting the other fields of classical antiquity and late antiquity.
Among the most important initiatives, in recent years, are the seies of Meetings “Volti del femminile in Roma antica” (2018, January – May), “Orizzonti senza storia? I pericoli di una desertificazione della storia” (2019 – February – April), the Conference “Aulo Gellio, tra diritto e antiquaria” (October 22-23, 2021), the Conference “Questioni di metodo” (May 27, 2023), the Conference “Virtutis causa. Giochi, gare e competizioni nel diritto di Roma (November 13, 2023).
