The areas of study of the Genoa Section mainly concern issues related to literary (and legal) forms produced in the centuries of transition between Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages. These researches concern pedagogical, lexicographic and grammatical literature, odeporic and geographical, historiographical and consumer literature, different poetic forms, and medical, scientific and technical production. Another pole of interest concerns, on the one hand, the reception and rethinking of ancient literary and scientific culture in Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages, also in the light of Christian thought, and, on the other hand, the themes of fortune, reminiscences and rewritings of the same literary and poetic production of Late Antiquity and Early Medieval throughout the Middle Latin and Humanistic periods. The Section plans to organize in the near future a series of international scientific conferences on these research topics, which will be in line with the following initiatives carried out in the past:
V AST National Conference, Genova 3-5 June 1999: Il tardoantico alle soglie del Duemila: diritto, religione, società.
Seminar of study, Genova 19 April 2002: Problemi di generi letterari nel tardoantico.
Seminar of study, Genova 10 aprile 2008: Temi e problemi di cultura tardoantica: Archeologia Storia Diritto Letteratura (see attachment)
